15.12.2009 Florida, Atlanta & Detroit

University of South Florida coach Jim Leavitt grabbed a football player by the throat then struck him twice in the face during halftime of the Bulls' Nov. 21 vs. Louisville game, the football player's father, his high school coach and five members of USF's football program told FanHouse.

A South Florida spokesman said the high school could review the affirmation.

"The South Florida University is aware of the story and are going to review the matter promptly," said Michael Hoad, vice president for announcement. "We are committed to securing due process for everyone involved. To secure fairness, the university does not comment during a review."

Ford Motor chairman not following Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions Vice Chairman Bill Ford Jr. said Monday that his role with the NFL team has taken a back seat to his duties as Ford Motor Co. presiding. It may be just as well.

Ford was in Washington to meet with President Barack Obama and submit to the Commerce Department a list of recommendations on ways to recovery the economy developed at a Detroit business top.

The younger Ford did speak out about the Lions after they dropped their third game of the 2008 campaign. Talking to reporters after a Detroit Economic Club meeting, he said he was disillusioned in the team's implementation and said fans deserve better.
